LG Steps Over Apple to Become No.2 in US Smartphone Market

LG, the south Korean Company has done it again. They’ve regained their second position in US Smart-phone market. Apple which was earlier on the second position has now been shifted to third position. As per the research done by Counterpoint Research, LG has a share of 13 percent in US Smartphone market as per result by end of December 2012.

The LG Success Story

While, Apple had a share of 12 percent only. Counterpoint Research is a Hong Kong based research firm which is well-known for their accurate surveys. The changes in the ranking has been seen as a consequence of LG’s success in selling their flagship owned Optimus G Smartphone. It was earlier in the last month that LG announced that they’ve successfully sold 10 million L-series devices. This is just a glimpse of LG’s success story. While everyone is praising LG, it is worth mentioning that they have ample of cell phones under their name while Apple only have iPhone as a cell phone brand which they work on. This might be a bit decisive factor as they have only one phone. Meanwhile  Samsung is at number one position and have a very large lead as they hold a market share of more than 33 percent.

Till quarter 2 of 2011, LG was at number 2 slot and they were replaced by Apple. This was the time when Apple launched iPhone 4S. While, LG have not revealed their plan about the upcoming smartphones, but they are expected to gain out of this result and are expected to get advantage in future sales.

Also the analysts in the market have predicted that LG has gained a lot due to the flagship of Nexus 4. Not only LG Nexus 4, but LG Optimus Series also have helped them more than anything else. We do believe the same that LG is certainly performing better, what about you?
